Wow.  Twenty-Ten.  We certainly blew through that decade in a hurry.  A blog on foreignpolicy.com, listed some things that were true ten years ago.  Among them, you could meet your loved ones at their arrival gate, China’s GDP was half of Germany’s, something called Inktomi was the largest search engine, and everyone was clamoring for a file share program called Napster.  Who knew?

So any predictions for the 20-teens?  How about February 2010?  Predictions are a dicey thing.  Most people thought we would be living the life of the Jetsons by now with flying cars and a robot maid.  Can predictions in the media world be any trickier?  Ten years ago our non-linear edit systems were stringing together hard drive space eight gigs at a time.  Now we’ve got terabytes sitting on the desk next to the monitor.  How about video delivery?  It’s gone from mailing VHS tapes, to DVD’s, to CD’s to now almost everything by download.

One of our goals at oneMISSION.tv is to help the ministries that we work with deliver their message in the most effective way possible.  We want to help them tell their stories the best way possible, but more and more, if we can’t get it to the people who need to see it, it won’t matter.  The key seems to be meeting a need felt by that gatekeeper at the church or group you are trying to touch.  If the delivery of your message can help that person solve a problem they feel, they will be motivated to tell your story.  And we know that we don’t have all of the answers, but we are constantly looking for what works.  What about you?  If you have found a need that opens the door, please share.  In the meantime, I’ll be looking for the keys to my flying car.
